Be sure not to miss this year’s quintessential Vaal River Meander Wine Route taking place at hotels, lodges and venues both on and next to the majestic Vaal River. Just a mere 45 minutes from Johannesburg, this year’s wine route promises to be the region’s biggest event of the year.

The Vaal River Meander Wine Route will be kick-started by a showstopper Wine and food Show on the 20^th - 22^nd May 2010. The Emerald Resort and Casino will be host to a spectacular gathering of over 400 of South Africa’s finest wines from 50 hand-selected vineyards and estates. Over 2000 wine enthusiasts will grab their glass and start swirling and sipping just a Frisbee throw away from the Vaal River, while music and entertainment will keep the mood upbeat. Fine wines will be spotlighted along with gourmet appetizers from top local chefs, artisan cheeses, even fresh strawberries and mouth-watering chocolates.

This year the month-long inland wine route will take place between the 5^th June 2010 and 25^th July 2010 on every Saturday and Sunday from midday till 6 p.m. Almost two dozen different venues on and around the banks of the Vaal River have been selected to showcase the wines from premier South African Wine Estates.

Venues range from the relaxed ambience of a country inn, to sipping wine on the terrace of a luxury hotel, moving on to a tranquil garden setting on the river shore or even sitting in front of a roaring fireplace of a cosy river pub. Savour excellent wines at only R20.00 for eight wine tastings. Bottles of wine can be purchased at venues to take away for the excellent promotional price of cost plus 10%.
