Official Launch with the “Vaal River Wine Expo” on Sat 20 June 2020
Six-Week “Vaal River Meander Wine Route” 21 June – 2 Aug 2020
The annual Vaal River Meander Wine Route, starts off with the Official One Day Launch on Saturday 20 June 2020 with a Wine Expo on the Vaal River hosted at Stonehaven on Vaal and Riverside Sun Hotel.
The day starts at 12-midday and is beautifully presented with Wine Tasting on the banks of the Vaal River. The R200 entrance ticket, gives you access to a choice of over 200 Wines from over 50 different Wine Estates. The ticket also includes one complimentary Cruise on the Vaal River with wine tasting aboard, as well as a wine tasting glass. The cruisers will depart for 45-minute cruises at 15-minute intervals, during the day from 12 – 5pm. Gates for the whole event close at 4pm, so make sure you arrive in time. Take advantage of the complimentary Taljaard Taxis Park and Ride service located close to the Riverside Sun Hotel.
Lots of delectable, well-priced food options to indulge in as well as live entertainment and an art exhibition. After the official launch on 20 June 2020, the first day of the 6-week Vaal River Meander Wine Route, starts on Sunday the 21st of June. The Wine Route is then on every Saturday and Sunday at more than a dozen venues on and around the Vaal River until Sunday the 2nd of August 2020. Opening times for wine tastings are 12 midday to 6pm.
The 6-week Vaal River Meander Wine Route is a very well-priced wine treat to beat the winter blues, as well as being able to do this at a quirky variation of different Venues on or around the banks of the Vaal River. Make sure you get your Vaal River Meander Wine Route Passport so you can see the selection of Venues you can visit and which wines they will each be showcasing.
You will pay for Wine Tasting at each Venue you visit, with a selection of different Wine Farms at each and every venue. Each Venue has at least 8 wines on offer. Some venues have up to 16 wines.
Wine Tasting Costs on the 6-week Vaal River Meander Wine Route are:-
- R30 for 8 wines
- R40 for 12 wines
- R50 for 16 wines
The Wine Route is perfect for wine connoisseurs, but also for those who are not confident regarding wines. It is a relaxed and pleasant well-priced outing, where one can learn to appreciate the wonderful wines South Africa boats - all in a welcoming environment. Some of the venues will be selling wines at cost plus 10%, so you can also capitalize on getting wines you really enjoy at very good prices.
Gauteng’s most popular Wine Route discerns itself from all the other Wine Routes in South Africa, in that it has a record number of ways in which you can enjoy this winter wine feast.
